How to Apply

Below are the steps and deadlines for our enrollment process. Applications submitted after these deadlines will be considered on a rolling basis. If you have questions about space availability for the upcoming year, please contact the admissions team at 908-522-8109.

APPLICATION

Submit the admissions application and fee. The non-refundable application fee for kindergarten – grade 4 is $100 (includes testing); for grades 5 and 6, $50. The application deadline for kindergarten is February 3, 2011; grades 1 – 6 applicants is February 11, 2011 (dates refer to completion of the application process). Once Oak Knoll has received your application and fee, we will call you to schedule your visiting day.

VISITING DAY

Grades 2 – 6 applicants are required to spend a day visiting the grade in which they are currently enrolled. An Oak Knoll student will act as your child’s “buddy” throughout the day, escorting them to classes and lunch. Lunch is provided. Please notify us if your child has any allergies.

TESTING

Each applicant is required to take an entrance test. If possible, parent conferences will be scheduled to coincide with your child’s testing or visit.

  •  Kindergarten – grade 3 applicant testing will be conducted by appointment with our education consultant at Oak Knoll. We begin testing at the end of October and test until each deadline in February. Please plan for kindergarten and grade 1 testing to last about an hour; grades 2 and 3 testing lasts about an hour and a half.
  • Grade 4 applicants are required to take the ERB test (CTP 4) at Oak Knoll. This test is offered Friday, February 4, 2011 (snow date February 7, 2011).
  • Grades 5 and 6 applicants are required to take the ERB test (ISEE). This test is offered to Oak Knoll applicants on Saturday, January 22, 2011.

PARENT CONFERENCE

A parent conference is an important part of the admissions process. If possible, parent conferences will be scheduled to coincide with your child’s testing or visit.

PLAYGROUPS

Kindergarten and grade 1 applicants are required to attend a playgroup, allowing your child to spend time with other applicants in a group setting. All playgroups last two hours. Your child will be scheduled for a playgroup in January upon receipt of the application.

TRANSCRIPTS

The Release of Records Form is required for grades 2 – 6 applicants and needs to be submitted directly from your child’s school to the admissions office.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Teacher Recommendation Forms are required for all Lower School applicants and need to be submitted directly from your child’s teachers. The Principal Recommendation Form is required for all grades 1 – 6 applicants and needs to be submitted directly from your child’s principal.
