The purpose of the interscholastic athletic program at Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child is to provide opportunities for a challenging and rewarding athletic experience for students who train for and commit themselves to a high level of competition. In concert with the Oak Knoll School philosophy which “is dedicated to the growth of the whole child in all learning and in all virtues, the interscholastic athletic program promotes student growth by developing in its athletes the values of effort, loyalty, teamwork, sportsmanship and grace under pressure.

Oak Knoll continually fosters these values both in practice time and in competitive play. Oak Knoll commits itself to the scheduling of appropriate opponents and to the hiring of capable coaches. The relationship of coach and player must be that of teacher and student in keeping with the Oak Knoll School philosophy. “We feel strongly that the school which imparts to young people not only knowledge but also spiritual and aesthetic values prepares them for a life of achievement, service and fulfillment.” The wisdom of Cornelia Connelly inspires us to provide this kind of education, thus “to meet the wants of the age.”
Grades 5 and 6:
This program is viewed as an introduction to skill development, team concepts and sportsmanship. All students are invited to participate.
Grades 7 and 8:
(All girls interscholastic athletic program)
The seventh and eighth grade competitive program requires a three-day-per-week time commitment after school. Our goal is to include as many interested students for each sport offering, without compromising the quality and integrity of our teams and outstretching our facility and staffing resources.
Grades 9 through 12:
(Varsity and junior varsity teams)
Participation in this competitive program requires a high level of commitment on the part of the students, faculty, coaches and parents. The goal is to help individuals and teams realize their potential by focusing on skills, team concepts, strategy and sportsmanship.
