Outreach projects allow all members of the school community to join together in responding to a variety of needs. Through collections and fundraisers, students in both the Lower and Upper Schools provide resources locally and globally – some on an ongoing basis and others on an as-needed basis in response to an immediate need.
Teachers help our Lower School students participate in several outreach efforts during the year, including:
- Sweater collections
- Mattress money for “The Dwelling Place,” a homeless shelter for women
- Food collections for Homeless Solutions
- Schools supplies collection for Bridges
- Fund drive for the HOPE coin collection
- Easter baskets and Christmas stockings for nursing home residents
Our Upper School students coordinate a number of outreach projects during the school year – some are traditionally supported by the school and others arise from students taking initiative to educate our community about a need. Bi-weekly bagel sales contribute to the Upper School PeopleIn Need (PIN) fund allowing students to respond to a variety of needs and requests throughout the school year.
Class fundraisers support other Holy Child ministries in the United States and Africa. Other outreach efforts have included:
- Thanksgiving Food and turkey money collection.
- Advent Angel monetary donations to Several Sources Foundation
- Christmas gifts for needy mothers and children
- Baby supplies for needy families
