The fine and performing arts in the Upper School provide a broad array of creative experiences aimed at cultivating the whole aesthetic of each student. Our rich body of curricular offerings is enhanced by an equally impressive set of extracurricular programs, both of which culminate in performance and exhibition showcases.
Students successfully pursue the arts at Oak Knoll, they come to abide by our maxim, “art is hard; art is heart,” striving to embrace the five essential principles: creative passion, belief in self, a strong work ethic, a cooperative spirit and a giving nature. They also learn the importance of process and product with a focus on the refinement of technical skill and an eye on the development of individual style. Finally, our young artists gain an understanding of the phrase “arts in action” as it applies to Oak Knoll’s outreach mission: the sharing of one’s gifts is the noblest form of artistic expression.
