As we rush through the electronic age, reading for enjoyment must not become a lost pleasure. Oak Knoll students are encouraged to read extensively and widely. Oak Knoll's Upper School year begins with a demonstration of our commitment to the importance of becoming a lifelong reader. On the first day of school in September, two hour-long sessions are held. Here, with a faculty moderator for each group, students discuss the books they have read over the summer.
Students choose their books from an annotated list of approximately 45 titles, which is published each May. Each of these books is sponsored by a faculty member or a member of the administration. Upper School students make their selections before leaving school in June. Newly-admitted students make their selection upon admission.
