Friday Assembly

Lower School students and teachers end the school week together at a weekly assembly every Friday afternoon. We read and reflect upon the Sunday Gospel and share our talents. Children play the piano, read poems, tell jokes and sing songs. The school week draws to a close with the recitation of the school prayer.

Several assemblies are designated for special programs throughout the year. For example, children in kindergarten through second grade have their own opportunity to hone their performance skills in a concert during a Friday assembly. The songs, dances and drama skits all relate to a theme. Last year’s theme was "Bugs!"

At what has also become an annual assembly, "Meet the Musician," a famous musician comes to life through the engaging performance of a talented actor and pianist. Through the years, students have learned the music and history of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms and Gershwin, to name a few.
