US Student Activities

Student life is rich at the Upper School. Our girls are nurtured and encouraged in their development. Students participate in grade-level activities throughout the year, sponsoring events such as Welcome Week, the grade 7 Halloween Party, the annual Semi-formal Dance, and Spirit Week. Special celebrations to affirm student milestones are held throughout the school year such as the Cum Laude Induction, the Foreign Language Honor Society Induction, the National Science Honor Society Induction, Eighth Grade Moving Up, Junior Ring Day, and our closing awards assemblies recognizing all our students.

Finding the "joy" in every action we take, taking time to affirm our talents and recognize that uniqueness in each person are who we are as a Holy Child school – Oak Knoll. We provide opportunities where the girls are actively involved in learning in each classroom, on each playing field, in each performance and in leadership. Young girls flourish in this single-gender setting where they have both voice and opportunity.

Each year new clubs and activities are sponsored by students and faculty. Last year a group of string players in our junior and sophomore classes started an instrumental group where students share their talents with each other, finding musical pieces for duets and trios. Many of our girls are also involved in outreach clubs – this year five members of our senior class participated in Operation Smile missions. More than 25 students participated in the Operation Smile training program last summer in Ireland and this year, many more will participate in training in San Diego.
