Literary Magazine - Freestyle (7-12)
Freestyle the Oak Knoll literary magazine, publishes poems, short stories, essays, artwork and photography by students in grades 7 through 12. The student editors select the works to be included and design the layout of pages in order to best showcase the creative works of the Oak Knoll student. All students may submit works for consideration and possible publication. Students in all grades are eligible to serve as staff members of the Freestyle.
Newspaper—Untucked (7-12)
This staff is open to students from grades 7 through 12 who are interested in news writing, layout, photography, art and editing. The staff publishes four newspapers during each academic year and in the spring begins to anticipate next year's direction. All students interested in participating may be a part of Untucked. Yearbook – Aquila(7-12)
Production of Oak Knoll's yearbook, Aquila, is a year-long endeavor. Junior and senior editors and a staff of students from all grades create an annual publication of approximately 240 pages. In assembling this book, students gain expertise in the areas of graphic design and desktop publishing, journalistic writing and photography, business management and public relations. Juniors and seniors apply for editorial positions after working on the staff. The staff meets regularly twice a week after school. In addition, sessions may occur on weekends and during vacations in order to meet deadlines.
French and Spanish Newsletters (7-12)
Ecoute-moi and La Vista are the French and Spanish newsletters which are published four times a year. These student-driven journals cover a wide variety of topics and are written entirely in the target language. In order to reach a larger audience, students translate their newsletters into English and offer a bilingual edition.
