Wednesday, June 9 marked the last day of school for the Lower School. The days leading up to this final day were filled with fun and traditional activities as students celebrated the end of the year and said farewell to our sixth grade graduates.
Kate Kelly ’18 served as “Principal for a Day” on Friday, June 4. Kate’s responsibilities included ensuring that all the students were outside and accounted for during a fire drill, leading the Lower School’s Friday Assembly, and declaring the day a homework-free dress-down day.
Congratulations to Christina Eng ’10 for winning “Best in Show” in the 2010 Congressional Arts Competition. In this prestigious show, which was held at the Morris Museum, Christina’s painting of the United States Capitol Building, was featured among the select works of over 60 high school artists.
Senior and junior artists were honored at the 17th annual Arts Recognition Evening on May 19. Awards were presented for leadership, outstanding achievement, and service/dedication to arts organizations at Oak Knoll.
As part of a project that integrated lessons from science and social studies, our primary students recently observed incubated eggs hatch into chicks, and later visited their new home at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morristown.
