Oak Knoll remains vigilant about the H1N1 flu as we head into the traditional flu season. All members of our community should pay close attention to the updates provided by the administration and school nurse via e-mails and letters. If you are having any trouble receiving these e-mails please send a note to webmaster@oakknoll.org. This page will keep a record of our latest updates and H1N1 resources.
January 2010
A number of local health departments have scheduled flu shot clinics in 2010 that are open to the general public (without previous restrictions). Visit the NJ Flu Shot Locator page for more information.

Like other area schools, we have a number of students absent because of “flu-like” symptoms. Please help us maintain a healthy campus by:
-
Reminding your children about the importance of hand washing and/or using hand sanitizers. Proper hand-washing is the number one way to keep yourself healthy during flu season! Washing hands with soap and water is best. Wash your hand long enough to sing “Happy Birthday” twice (20 seconds).
-
Reviewing school and local health department notices. A letter was sent home in the monthly mailing last week that outlined guidance for staying healthy and included a letter from the state health commissioner about how to find an H1N1 vaccine in your community. Please review these documents.
-
Keeping your child at home if they are sick. Please do not send children back to school until they are “fever-free” without medication for 24 hours.
Please contact our school nurse, Kim Pinto at 908-522-8135 or kimberly.pinto@oakknoll.org if you have any questions.
