Welcome

Welcome to the Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child Web site! This may be your first step in learning more about our exemplary Catholic independent school in Summit, New Jersey, or you may be a curious alumna or alumnus. Coeducational in the Lower School from kindergarten to grade 6 and for young women only in the Upper School, grades 7 to 12, we are part of the Holy Child Network of Schools. The Holy Child and Oak Knoll mission statement is clear and direct about our purpose: “… to develop mature persons capable of making choices that enrich their own lives and contribute to the lives of others.” We do this within the structure of a traditional, college preparatory independent school curriculum combined with our Roman Catholic heritage.

While more and more research points toward the benefits of a single-sex education, Oak Knoll has been a proven leader in this area since its founding in 1924. Our Upper School is an important part of who we are in the modern world, offering young women a challenging and exciting curriculum. Our athletics and arts programs are outstanding and gain regional, state and national recognition for our students. We also offer an array of extracurricular club activities and community service opportunities. Oak Knoll graduates attend the best colleges and universities in the world and establish careers across all professions. At the same time, our co-educational Lower School prepares boys and girls for academic, artistic and athletic success at their next level of education. Our Lower School continues to pride itself on its academic rigor, its expansive arts program, and its warm sense of community and inclusion.

A sense of community within the context of one’s academic, personal and spiritual development is an important aspect of a successful school today—independent, public or otherwise. Our school culture and program foster a sense of community and is grounded in our spiritual commitment to Holy Child education. With a Judeo-Christian heritage and a commitment to the educational mission of the Roman Catholic Church, we serve all young people who are willing to open their lives to the belief “... that God lives and acts in them and in our world, and to rejoice in the divine presence.”

As you learn more about Oak Knoll, or reconnect with your former classmates and teachers, you will realize that we remain a spiritual, proud, and academically demanding community. The most precious resource that we have today is our children. Look through our Web site and take the time to learn more about Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child. I hope that what you find will intrigue you enough to visit us and learn more about our very special school. It will change your life!
