Shaping Global Citizens

At Oak Knoll, learning transcends classroom walls.

As a member of the Holy Child Network of Schools, we’re not just preparing students for the world; we’re preparing them to change it. With roots in nine U.S. locations and extending to 13 international schools, sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus in countries including England, Ireland, France, Nigeria, and Ghana, our commitment to a global perspective in education is unmatched.

Our students don’t just study global cultures; they experience them

Our robust Upper School exchange programs with schools in Barcelona, Spain; East Sussex, England; and Pasadena, California, allow Oak Knoll students to live, learn, and connect with peers across the globe. Our history of international travel includes enriching academic exchanges, performances, and service in diverse destinations from Appalachia to Australia, from the Czech Republic to Quebec, and beyond.

The trip to Iceland taught me confidence and responsibility and showed me the importance of doing things independently.

Spain

While many found relaxation during Spring Break, our adventurous Oak Knoll students immersed themselves in the vibrant cultures of Barcelona, connecting with host families, attending classes, and exploring the rich histories around them through Oak Knoll’s Global Learning Program.

Our dynamic Global Studies initiative is at the heart of Oak Knoll’s mission, offering students unparalleled opportunities to engage with the world. Whether it’s mastering a new language, understanding the intricate tapestry of world cultures, or exploring global issues firsthand at our school in New Jersey, our students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to thrive.

Real-World Learning Beyond Borders

For our younger students in the Lower School, virtual calls with Holy Child sister schools around the world enhance their learning experience, laying a strong foundation for global understanding and connection.

These interactions extend into cross-curricular activities as students studying fossils and changing environments gather and analyze local ecosystem data, which is shared with scientists in Antarctica. This collaborative effort culminated in the planting of a flag in Antarctica, symbolizing the important role that young learners play in global scientific initiatives.

Home and Abroad: A Circle of Exchange

Our unique approach to global education includes welcoming the world into our own community. Oak Knoll families open their homes to students from our partner schools abroad, fostering lifelong international friendships and encouraging an exchange of ideas and cultures that enriches everyone involved. This inclusive approach, open to all students, fosters a rich environment of shared experiences and learning opportunities.
