Ignite a Passion for Movement

An Innovative Youth Sports Program for Boys and Girls in Grades 3-6.

At Oak Knoll, our approach to youth sports focuses on the enjoyment of physical activity and skill development rather than a strictly playing-to-win mentality in the early developmental years. The goal is to ignite a lifelong love of movement and set the foundation for a healthy, active lifestyle that will ultimately benefit any sport, dance, or extracurricular activity.

Did You Know?

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, 70% of children drop out of organized sports by age 13. However, research indicates that when children learn essential skills through fun and developmentally appropriate play early on, they are more likely to continue participating in sports through their middle and high school years.

The Junior Royals

Offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 3-4:30 p.m., the Junior Royals program is meticulously crafted to offer sessions that enhance athleticism, benefiting any sport or physical activity our students enjoy – whether it be soccer, dance, martial arts, or simply playing with friends.

The Junior Royals

Through a structured weekly curriculum in partnership with Prodigy Sport and Oak Knoll alumnus Andrew Hubschmann ’92, the Junior Royals program focuses on developing essential motor skills and athleticism in a fun and engaging manner.

Our emphasis on agility, balance, speed, and coordination ensures that boys and girls in grades 3-6 gain the foundational skills necessary for healthy movement and overall sports proficiency.

“The Junior Royals program leads to winning outcomes, not striving for wins and losses on a court or field. Here, we foster a better sense of self, a better appreciation for the body, and confidence in our physical abilities and opportunities for growth and improvement.”

- Dr. Kelly Childs, Athletic Director

Enhancing the Student-Athlete Experience

The Junior Royals program at our private Catholic school in New Jersey offers flexibility for student-athletes who wish to compete at the club or external level, ensuring they can balance these commitments without missing out on valuable experiences with their classmates and friends through the Junior Royals. Additionally, sixth-grade girls in Oak Knoll’s Lower School have the unique opportunity to join year-round sports with seventh and eighth-graders in our middle school interscholastic sports program, building connections with future teammates and strengthening the community spirit.
