It happened again.

Early Monday morning — before anyone even had a chance to coax the Help Desk printer back to life — it suddenly sprang into action. Out came a single sheet of paper covered in loopy green handwriting and just enough glitter to make Mr. Andolina and Mr. Chioffe sigh.

Bernard the Elf is officially back.

Every year, Bernard sneaks onto campus sometime between our Christmas concert rehearsals and the first Advent candle lighting. He usually leaves behind cryptic notes, half-finished candy canes, and the occasional prank involving sticky bows on office chairs. But this year’s message was a little different.

And honestly? He’s right.

So this year’s holiday guide takes a new twist — still inspired by our earlier Santa Tech and Gratitude Guides, but with a fresh theme that feels very Oak Knoll: gifts that help children grow into who they’re becoming.

Whether you’re scanning early Black Friday sales or simply looking for meaningful ideas, here are a few Bernard-approved suggestions.

1. Gifts That Spark Curiosity

These are the things kids use long after the wrapping paper is gone.

• Hands-on Maker Kits: STEM sets, craft projects, and build-it-yourself kits give kids something to do rather than something to collect.
• Local Classes or Workshops: Dance, art, coding, robotics, pottery — anything that lets them explore talents and interests.
