Ensemble Brings Holiday Cheer to the Community on Christmas Singing Tour
Meghan Hodgin

The holidays at Oak Knoll are always filled with spirit, song, and joyful tradition — and this year, our Upper School Ensemble is carrying that celebration far beyond campus as they share their voices across the community.

The Ensemble Christmas Tour began right here at home during Oak Knoll’s Fifth Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, December 5. Families gathered on the hilltop for a magical evening complete with festive crafts, sweet holiday treats, caroling from members of the Ensemble, and, of course, the lighting of our beautiful campus Christmas tree — topped off with a special visit from Santa himself.

Just two days later, on Sunday, December 7, the Ensemble continued spreading holiday cheer at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum Holiday Open House, where our students’ carols helped bring an extra layer of warmth and celebration to this family community event.

The music continues throughout the month, with the Ensemble bringing comfort and joy to local seniors at Sunrise Senior Living in Madison on Monday, December 8, and performing at the St. Teresa of Avila Gala Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 14. Their final stop will take place back on campus, as they lead the community in song during the Christmas Prayer Concert on December 16.

During this season of anticipation and celebration, the tour reflects Oak Knoll’s core values — using one’s gifts in service, and bringing joy to others.

“Sharing our music with the community is a joyful way for our students to live our faith during one of the most meaningful times of the year,” said Joe Elefante, Oak Knoll’s Upper School Music Director. “Our Ensemble works incredibly hard, and performing for others — especially at Christmas — allows them to use their gifts to bring hope, connection, and celebration to people of all ages.”

From sparkling tree lights to quiet moments of reflection, the Ensemble is making each performance a reminder of what matters most at Oak Knoll: faith, community, and the joy of coming together in song.
