Gaelle Jones ’26 Named to USA National Lacrosse Team for Second Consecutive Year

Gaelle Jones ’26 has again earned national recognition, being named to the USA U19 Lacrosse National Team — her second consecutive year representing the United States on a national roster and a testament to her dedication to the sport.

This year, Jones is one of just 144 players nationwide selected to one of six U.S. Youth National Teams, earning a spot on the prestigious U19 squad. Last year, she was selected to the U16 national team, making this her second straight year competing among the nation’s elite.

The selection process began with an invitation to the USA Lacrosse National Team Development Combine, held at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Maryland from July 28 to 31, 2025.

“For two seasons in a row, Gaelle has stood out among the nation’s best. This is an incredible achievement,” said Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach Gianna Sgroi. “Over the years I have coached her, she has never plateaued and never wavered in her commitment to getting better.

“Beyond her skill, she’s a selfless leader and teammate,” Sgroi added. “Gaelle exhibits the spirit of ‘never giving up’ day in and day out. She leads by example with her work ethic, demands the very best from herself and her teammates, while also being encouraging and supportive. She is really the full package.”

Jones, who has verbally committed to play at the University of North Carolina’s nationally ranked lacrosse program, said she was looking forward to the opportunity to play with and compete against some of the best players in the country.

“This selection means everything to me,” Jones said. “I’ve learned so much more about the game and have been able to take my skills to the next level. I’m excited to meet so many amazing people I wouldn’t have the chance to connect with otherwise, thanks to this incredible opportunity.”

All youth national teams competed in September. Looking ahead, Jones and the U19 squad will return to action in October for the Brogden Cup against international competition.
