Oak Knoll Celebrates Centennial Reunion 2025 with Weekend of Tradition and Milestones
Meghan Hodgin

Oak Knoll marked a historic milestone as it celebrated Reunion 2025 during its centennial year, honoring 100 Years of Promise and Purpose. The weekend was filled with events that brought together alumnae/i, families, and faculty/staff to celebrate the school’s legacy of excellence, community, and leadership.

The festivities began with the seventh annual Women in Sports Leadership Panel, which featured a distinguished lineup of Oak Knoll alumnae and former athletes — Holly Buechel ’03, Shannon Costello ’19, and Jessica (McBride) Whitsitt ’05. This event highlighted the achievements of female leaders in athletics and served as a source of inspiration for both alumnae/i and current students. It set the stage for a weekend dedicated to honoring the school’s impact over the past century.

For the Class of 1975, celebrating their 50th Reunion, and other Cachet Club members, the weekend included special moments such as Pen Pal visits with Lower School students in Bonaventura Hall Chapel. This cherished tradition was followed by a Cachet Club Luncheon at the Beacon Hill Club, where Head of School Jennifer G. Landis reflected on the contributions of these honored alumnae/i and their lasting connection to Oak Knoll.

Athletic pride was on full display at Chatham Fields, where members of the community cheered on the Royals: Varsity Softball faced Union Catholic. At the same time, Varsity and JV Lacrosse played against Moorestown High School, and all of our teams won their matches! The day also featured the Gerald P. Butler Athletic Hall of Fame Reception, where Kate Slonaker Hammitt ’98 was inducted for her outstanding athletic achievements, including being named the New Jersey Star Ledger swimmer of the decade, and ending her career as a multi-state champion and 1998 New Jersey Swimmer of the Year.

On campus, alumnae/i enjoyed campus tours, a Centennial presentation by Head of School Jennifer G. Landis, and a special Mass concelebrated by Monsignor John J. Carroll and Father Michael Ward ’76, an Oak Knoll Lower School graduate, in Grace Hall Chapel. During the Mass, Leigh Simon Porges ’75 was honored with the Distinguished Alumnae/i Award for her exceptional accomplishments and commitment to Oak Knoll’s values. Porges, a dedicated leader and advocate, was named Citizen of the Year in 2001 by the Union Hospital Foundation and co-founded OneGift, a wish fulfillment program for adults with cancer receiving treatment at the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the William E. Simon Foundation and has been actively involved with Good Grief, where she served as a Board of Trustees member and facilitator for the young adult group supporting children who have lost a sibling or parent.

Following the Mass was a heartfelt bench dedication ceremony in memory of Abigail Mae Rollenhagen ’11, honoring her enduring legacy within the Oak Knoll community.

The celebration concluded with Reunion Class Photos and a Candlelight Buffet Dinner in the Aileen Maury Dining Hall. Alumnae/i gathered to reconnect, share memories, and reflect on the school’s past and its promising future.

We thank everyone who came together to make Reunion 2025 a meaningful celebration of Oak Knoll's century-long journey, bringing together generations of alumnae/i to honor a shared history and look ahead to the school’s bright future.
