Meghan Hodgin

Oak Knoll’s varsity tennis team earned a strong second-place finish at the Union County Tournament on Monday, September 22, 2025, and broke into the Top 20 state rankings for the first time since 2014.

Competing at the Donald Van Blake Tennis Facility in Plainfield, the Royals turned in an impressive performance, finishing second place in first singles (Bella Ramirez ’28), third singles (Chloe Wells-Roth ’28), and second doubles (Olivia Crossman ’28 and Valentina Reale ’27); third place in second singles (Lila Lobosco ’27); and fifth place in first doubles (Pia Franzese ’26 and Siena DePasquale ’27).

“The team’s success at the Union County Tournament came down to our consistency, depth, and a strong focus on staying present during each point,” said Head Coach Genevieve Gramatica. “Everyone rose to the occasion in key moments, and we really supported one another throughout every match. As we head into the final stretch of the season, we’re working on sharpening our strategies and holding onto that underdog mentality to fight for every point.”

With an 8-3 regular season record, the Royals now set their sights on the upcoming state tournament as they continue their winning momentum.
