Oak Knoll’s winter track team delivered an extraordinary performance at the Union County Championships on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, securing an impressive second-place overall finish. This bested the Royals’ highest finish of third place last year (tying with Westfield High School).
Senior Danya Spoor ’25 also earned her second-consecutive high jump championship title a week apart, Non-Public A champion last week and Union County champion this week. Spoor teamed up with Ally Sparno ’26, Anna Wojie ’25, and Reagan Moore ’27 to place second in the 4X400 relay in a time of 4:00.20, which currently ranks as the No. 5 time in the state this year.
Moore, who won the 800-meter at last spring’s Meet of Champions, achieved a remarkable second-place finish with a time of 2:10.90, now ranking her No. 6 in the nation.
Sparno also had a great performance, closing in a hot race in the 1600M with a strong second-place finish in 5:17.
These accomplishments follow an equally inspiring performance just one week earlier, on January 15, 2025, at the Non-Public A State Relays. During the event, the Royals dominated in Distance Medley, placing first, along with the fastest time in the state and the No. 3 ranking in the nation.
Next up for the Royals is the New Jersey Catholic Track Conference on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 9 a.m.
