Oak Knoll's Reagan Moore '27 Shatters Record at Meet of Champions
Meghan Hodgin

History was made at the Meet of Champions on Sunday, March 2, 2025, as Oak Knoll sophomore Reagan Moore ’27 delivered a stunning performance in the Girls’ 800-meter run, setting a new meet record with an incredible time of 2:04.80. This feat not only eclipsed the previous mark of 2:07.83, set by Victoria Vanriele of Gov. Livingston in 2020, but it also placed Moore among the fastest high school runners in New Jersey history. She now holds the third-fastest time in state history — trailing only Olympic gold medalist Athing Mu and Olympian Ajee’ Wilson — fifth best in the United States of all time and No. 2 in the U.S. this year.

Despite taking first place last year in the Meet of Champions and entering the race as an underdog against defending champion Clemmie Lilley of Rumson-Fair Haven, Moore showcased determination and tactical brilliance. She stayed close on Lilley’s heels throughout the race and delivered a powerful final kick in the last 100 meters to claim victory.

Moore’s achievement is a testament to her dedication and the strength of her teammates and coaches at Oak Knoll.

“It’s crazy to think I now have the meet record, and my name is among some incredible New Jersey runners,” she told NJ.com. Her victory reflects the excellence and resilience Oak Knoll athletes strive for, setting an inspiring example for current and future students.

Moore also contributed to the team’s success as part of the 4x400-meter relay squad alongside Ella Hennessy ’26, Danya Spoor ’25, and Anna Wojie ’25, which broke their school record from last year. The team delivered a strong performance, finishing sixth at the Meet of Champions.

Earlier this season, the Royals placed second in the State Non-Public Championships in February as well as the Union County Championships in January. Next up for the Royals is the Nike Indoor Track and Field National Championships at the Armory in New York City from March 13-16, 2025.
