3 Oak Knoll Lacrosse Players Invited to Prestigious USA Lacrosse Combine
Milan Jones '25

Gaelle Jones ’26, Ellie Cusimano ’26, and Caroline Van Raaphorst ’26 continue to leave their legacy on the field as three of Oak Knoll’s lacrosse players were invited to the 2025 USA Lacrosse National Team Development National Combine.  This combine took place in Maryland at USA Lacrosse Headquarters from July 28-31, 2025.

This prestigious event brings together the top lacrosse players from across the country to compete in drills, undergo evaluation, and participate in skill development. Following the multi-day combine, USA Lacrosse coaches will announce their selections for the U18 team, which will compete internationally against other countries.

“It was a really cool experience to play with the best girls in the country for our age group,” Cusimano reflected. “It was an honor to even be selected to attend the combine. My favorite part was definitely the competitive energy.”

Jones was also selected to play for the U16 USA National Lacrosse team in years prior. “This experience will mean so much to me. Especially having the privilege of going through this process again, it’s meaningful to be back and have another chance to wear USA across my chest.” Jones explains. “It is never an easy process, competing against the best girls in the country. Everyone is so incredibly talented. I love watching everyone showcase the skills we have been working so hard on all summer, pay off.”

Gianna Sgroi, Oak Knoll’s Head Lacrosse Coach, praised these athletes for their dedication, resilience, and leadership on and off the field.

“Caroline, Gaelle, and Ellie truly embody the Oak Knoll lacrosse work ethic and determination to play with the top players in the country,” said Sgroi. “Getting an invite like this alludes to their grit, toughness, skill set, and love for the sport. This is one of the most prestigious opportunities in youth lacrosse, and it means these three stand out among the best of the best in the country.”

Throughout the years, Jones, Cusimano, and Van Raaphorst all made significant contributions to Oak Knoll’s lacrosse program. Their selection for this combine reflects not only their physical talent, but also the mental toughness, fortitude, and discipline required to excel in sports.

“These players each bring their unique sense of work ethic that contributes to the dynamic of our team in such a positive way,” Sgroi added. “They are true leaders, and I am so proud of these girls for representing us as they try out for the US National Team!”

After the combine concluded, Jones, Cusimano, and Van Raaphorst now await the announcement of whether they have earned a spot on the U.S Youth National Team.

Congratulations to Gaelle, Ellie, and Caroline on this incredible opportunity. Oak Knoll wishes them all the best of luck as they compete on a national stage. Their passion, commitment, and leadership continue to inspire their teammates, upcoming generations, and the entire Oak Knoll community!
