Extended Day Program

Before Care Program: 7:30 a.m.

Oak Knoll recognizes that many working families need options before the traditional school day starts. Supervision is available in the K-6 Elementary School before school starts. Oak Knoll Extended Day Before Care begins at 7:30 a.m.

After Care Program: 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.

We also offer Extended Day After Care from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m., which allows time for your child to play, practice on computers, and enjoy free time with friends, all under caring adult supervision.

After-School Adventures Program: 3 - 4:30 p.m.

Our popular coed after school enrichment programs of active, productive discovery for kindergarten through grade 6, engage boys' and girls' minds while developing their talents and abilities. The After-School Adventures programs are staffed by qualified instructors in specialty areas. Children use the school's classrooms, art studios, dining hall, Campion Center for the Performing Arts, and Tisdall Hall athletic complex.

After-School Adventures has two sessions: a fall session from September to December; and a winter/spring session from January to June. Our programs offer a wide variety of enriching classes designed to help children stretch their imaginations, promote positive relationships, and create engaging environments for children to interact with others. Your child can enjoy everything from chess, cooking, drama, computers, and sports. All of our programs are open to the entire community  not just Oak Knoll families.

Your child may join us after school until 3:30 p.m. for a snack only or stay until 4:30 p.m. for a snack and an enriching after-school activity.

Extended Day Registration

We require all participants to fill out a registration form. Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis; however, we will notify you if we are not able to accept your child into the program. We do not send out confirmation letters. For classes that fill up quickly, a spot will not be held without a registration form and payment. Parents verbally requesting that their children be added to our class roster will be asked to fill out a registration form. This helps us with our recordkeeping and “drop-in” fee lists. All registration, changes or transfers, and withdrawals must be made in writing.

Dismissal to Extended Day Programs

At dismissal, kindergarten through sixth-grade students meet our staff in the drama room for attendance and snack. While we send participant lists to all homeroom teachers, we recommend letting your child’s homeroom teacher know your child will be participating in an After-School Adventures or After Care program. Snack and juice are provided by the Adventures program for all registered participants and drop-ins. If you prefer, you may send in a snack with your child. Due to the high number of students with peanut allergies, we ask that you avoid sending in snacks containing peanuts.

Early Dismissal: No Extended Day Programs

If the school has an early dismissal at 1 p.m., all Adventures and After Care programs will be cancelled. There are times when the school has a 3 p.m. dismissal with all after-school and sport activities cancelled. We will have a staff member to supervise any child that cannot be picked up during normal dismissal until you can make other arrangements. For the safety of our staff, we ask that you pick up your child as soon as possible.

After-School Adventures Offerings

After-School Adventures offers a series of enrichment programs  or “clubs”  on week days during the afterschool hours and on Saturdays.  Sessions are held in the fall and spring.

Club participants meet in the K-6 Elementary School drama room for snack and quiet study at 3 p.m. All clubs meet from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m., unless specified otherwise. All of our clubs are open to the entire community, not just Oak Knoll families. Please download our recent brochure for more information about our programs. Following is a sampling of our club offerings:

  • Mad Science
  • Math Mania
  • Very Pottery
  • Basketball Clinic
  • Music Lessons

Kids Love Our Parties. So Do Their Parents!

Why? Because at an Oak Knoll birthday party, no one has time to sit around and be bored when there are games, music, dancing, and more!

We will provide a one-hour activity of your choice with our trained instructors, and then escort your guests to our party room where they can enjoy refreshments for an additional 30 minutes. Every party is fully supervised by our professional instructors, who are bright, cheerful and child-friendly. They will ensure everyone has a playful, fun time through non-competitive games that leave everyone feeling like a winner. Currently, we are booking parties during the week, after school hours. Special arrangements may be made for Saturday dates. Parties are for children turning 5 and up.
