Faith Life

Community Faith Experiences

Holy Child Schools promote the personal growth and development of all who participate in the life of the school.

In the Community

Oak Knoll’s commitment to the belief that “God is central in our lives” extends to all members of the school community from facuty and staff to parents and friends. Opportunities for liturgies, prayer experiences, spiritual enrichment, community service, and outreach projects are provided for faculty, staff, administrators, parents and families, trustees, and alumnae/i.

These include:
  • Upper School Mother-Daughter Communion Breakfast
  • Lower School Father-Daughter Mass and Breakfast
  • Grade 6 Graduation Mass
  • Grade 12 Baccalaureate Mass
  • Annual Board Visiting Day Prayer Service with Trustees, Faculty and Staff  Celebration of Life and Legacy of Cornelia Connelly
  • Annual Faculty/Staff Retreat Day
  • Alumnae/i Outreach Projects
  • Annual Schoolwide Service Day

Service Day: Faculty/Staff

Administrators, faculty, and staff join our students in an annual Service Day during, which all students spend the day in service to others.  Adults work side by side with the students at different sites from soup kitchens to a hospice, and Meals on Wheels to Elizabeth Coalition for the Homeless. Some help students with outreach projects on campus such as assembling bag lunches for an upcoming Bridges run or pack toiletries for the homeless.

Parent Prayer Experiences

The Parents' Association at Oak Knoll participates in a variety of prayer experiences, including the Parents' Advent Morning of Reflection and the Parents' Lenten Morning of Reflection. Our parents also participate in an Opening Day of School Mass and our Wednesday Morning Masses in Grace Hall Chapel.

Parents in the Community

The Parents' Association organizes many outreach activities throughout the year, including the Thanksgiving Family Mass and Outreach (food Collection for Pierre Toussaint Food Pantry), the Father-Daughter Pasta Dinner and a service project that helps the Community Foodbank of New Jersey in Hillside.

Alumnae/i Prayer Opportunities

Oak Knoll's vast network of alumni come together for prayer opportunities throughout the year. Some of those events include the Alumnae/i Annual Reunion Mass, the monthly Mass of Remembrance, and the Rosary Society.
