Amy Elizabeth Pizzi, 37, of Basking Ridge, died surrounded on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016.
Pizzi was born and raised in New Providence. She was the beloved daughter of Marguerite (Roche) and Dr. Peter Anthony Pizzi. She graduated from Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child, before earning a degree in communications from Villanova University.
After graduation, Amy worked at King World Productions in Short Hills, while working toward her teaching certification at Caldwell College. Amy later earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Caldwell College.
She was a fifth grade teacher at Hillside Intermediate School in Bridgewater. She loved her teacher coworkers and her students.
In addition to her parents, she leaves behind her beloved sisters, Kristen (Patrick) Shallcross of Summit and Katie (Richard) Travia ’99 of Stamford, Conn. But most of all, Amy will be so missed by her nieces and nephews, Peyton, Carter, Kelsey and Holly Shallcross and Rosie and Daniel Travia. They were the light of her life. Her day was never complete without hearing about what they were doing through phone calls, text messages, Facetime and videos. Aunt Amy was their favorite and it was always fun to be doing things with her.
Amy Pizzi ’97, who died on October 23, 2016, was the sister of Kathleen Pizzi Travia ’99, niece of Peter Pizzi ’65 (of the Lower School) and great-niece of Diane Pizzi Ruggiero ’53.
In lieu of flowers, Pizzi's family requests that you make a donation in her name to the Lupus Research Alliance through her memorial page
