The past six years at Oak Knoll have flown by, and I still remember sitting in my seventh-grade theology class, thinking I couldn’t believe I would be here for six years. At the time, it seemed extremely daunting, but now I wish I could go back to that moment. I came to Oak Knoll hoping to succeed academically and athletically, but I never could have imagined how meaningful the community would become to me. People often say that “people make the place,” and at Oak Knoll, that is absolutely true. The community here is unlike any other, and I think it’s very hard to find a community like this at any other school. Even though I have sisters at home, the girls here have truly become my sisters as well. When I have good news, I tell my OKS friends, and they cheer me on, and when I have bad news, they are right there to support me. The support, daily encouragement, and love I’ve received from them have been nothing short of incredible. Field hockey, in particular, has shown me that success isn’t just about winning games. If someone asked what my favorite part of my field hockey career has been, many might assume it would be winning a state championship, but for me, it was being part of a group of girls who are not only fun and make me excited to show up every day, but also supportive during the hardest moments. Next year, as I start college, I know I am going to miss this deeply supportive Oak Knoll community more than anything else.k
