Coming from a large public middle school, I came to Oak Knoll in search of new opportunities and to have a closer group of girls who really valued each other. I came to Oak Knoll in eighth grade, and I immediately felt at home. At my old school, people were grouped by math level and language, and since I was one of the only girls who took Latin, I was grouped with a bunch of boys whom I had never really met before. It was hard to meet new people when I was in a room with the same group of kids for the whole day. I decided to apply to Oak Knoll at the beginning of seventh grade, and when I went on my official tour, I knew that this would be the place for me. In a public school where everyone already seemed like they had their permanent friend groups by the second week of school, it seemed like everyone at Oak Knoll was excited to welcome someone new into their lives. Being a part of Oak Knoll for the past three years has been an experience I wouldn’t trade for anything. I have met some of my best friends here, and coming here was truly the best thing that could have happened to me. I have discovered so many things about myself, and have met friends across all grade levels, which is not something that you get everywhere. Everyone is your biggest cheerleader, and I truly do look forward to coming to school every day.
