Oak Knoll’s Varsity Softball Team Clinches Union County Valley Championship

With an impressive 4-1 victory over Kent Place on Friday, May 17, 2024, Oak Knoll’s Varsity Softball Team proudly secured the Union County Valley Division Championship.

“Winning today’s game took strong defense, perseverance, and timely hitting,” said Head Softball Coach Kim Mantone. She attributed the team’s success to exceptional leadership and a formidable pitcher-catcher duo that anchored their defensive strength.

Despite an early setback in April, where they lost their first divisional game to New Providence, the team demonstrated remarkable resilience. They bounced back to win the pivotal second matchup and triumphed in several nail-biting encounters. Among these were two intense 10-inning victories against Roselle Park, which ultimately paved their way to clinching the division title.

Boasting a 7-1 record in the Valley Division, Oak Knoll is currently ranked fourth in the Union County Conference and holds an overall record of 13-7 for the season. With the regular season nearing its end, the team is now gearing up for a strong showing in the State Tournament, driven by the momentum of their recent achievements.
