Financial Aid at Oak Knoll

Oak Knoll understands that the total cost of our program with tuition and fees is significant. We are committed to making this experience affordable to all qualified students through our financial aid program. Oak Knoll awarded financial aid of approximately $1.8 million to new and current families for the 2019-20 school year.

While Oak Knoll is committed to a strong financial aid program, the School seeks students from families committed to using their own resources to make education a first priority. We believe that parents have an obligation to provide for their child’s education within their means.

We utilize the services of TADS (Tuition Aid Data Services) to help determine a family’s eligibility for financial aid.

FAQs: Financial Aid

A: No. An applicant’s family’s request for financial aid has no bearing on the admissions decision. Based on the number of applicants and the limits of the financial aid budget, “need aware” admissions decisions may be made during certain times of the admissions season.

A: Due to the numerous requests for financial aid, resources are limited and allocated to families that demonstrate the most need.

A: Each family’s financial picture is unique, and so are the grants that are awarded. What a family qualifies for depends on income, assets, and other factors that impact a family’s financial resources.

A: Returning families, who have not previously applied for financial assistance, must demonstrate a significant change in financial circumstances.

A: In situations of divorced, separated, or never married parents, both the father and mother must each file the appropriate paperwork. The custodial parent is required to contact the other parent to assure completion. Step-parents are also required to provide their financial information. The TADS application will be reviewed only upon submission from all parties. Confidentiality is strictly enforced.

A: Oak Knoll expects a family to use all available financial resources to contribute as much as they can to tuition. All parents are expected to be employed. The exception is for a family with children under the age of five or caring for an elderly parent in their home. Oak Knoll will impute a salary for a non-working parent who does not qualify to be at home full time.

A: Each grant is awarded for one year and the student’s need is recalculated annually. Therefore, a family must complete the financial aid application and submit required documentation each year.

A: Yes. Oak Knoll expects families to apply for all financial funding available to them from other schools.

A: The financial aid process follows a finite calendar to ensure funding is awarded in time for a family to enroll. If an application, or required paperwork, is received after deadlines, there may not be funding available and the family may be placed in a financial aid wait pool. If a family choses to file a tax extension, this will affect the process as funding may not be available after the financial aid deadlines.

A: First, complete an application at www.TADS.com. Once you’ve completed that step a family needs to submit two years of the most recent past taxes and the current year’s return. In addition, a family must submit the latest W-2 form and any required schedules that may pertain to their tax return.
