Abigail Flood ’24 Receives National Women in Sports Accolades

student holding awardCongratulations to Oak Knoll student-athlete Abigail Flood ’24 for being selected as the 2024 Oak Knoll School Women in Sports Award recipient. This award recognizes top female student-athletes from each high school and college in New Jersey as part of the National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD). She will represent Oak Knoll at the NGWSD celebration in February, which is sponsored by the Women’s Sports Foundation.

Flood was selected as the 2024 OKS Women in Sports Award recipient for her contributions to the Oak Knoll community on and off the court and field. Earlier this month, she was honored at the Rutgers University women’s basketball game on January 14. She will continue to be honored at Oak Knoll’s Senior Athlete Awards Dinner in June.

The Women in Sports Award is presented each year to a senior who exemplifies everything that makes an Oak Knoll student-athlete unique, focusing on leadership and making an impact. Flood is a two-sport varsity athlete on our Volleyball and Softball teams. She served as a volleyball captain this past fall and is a two-time captain on our softball team.

“Abby has a calm and steady presence but a fierce competitiveness that shows each time she steps on the court or field,” said Athletic Director Kell Childs, Ph.D. “Abby has provided outstanding leadership and skill to two of our growing programs on campus, and her teammates and coaches have significantly benefited from her selfless attitude and great pride in being an Oak Knoll student-athlete.”

Flood currently leads the Athletic Council as President and is the co-editor of two student-driven publications. She also assists her peers by working as a Writing Center Tutor and a Peer Tutor and has participated in our exchange program traveling to Spain.

Flood has demonstrated her prowess as a student, earning Cum Laude and AP Scholar honors. She truly embodies all that an Oak Knoll student athlete aspires to be.

“I was so honored to be recognized for the Woman in Sports award, especially as someone representing two of our growing programs here (softball/volleyball),” explained Flood. “Being a part of Oak Knoll athletics has been such an incredible experience and has helped me grow equally as much as a person as I have as an athlete. I enter my last season here as a more authentic leader, a better teammate, and a more resilient individual, and I look forward to taking these skills with me as I embark on my next chapter in college.”

Join Oak Knoll in congratulating our 2024 Women in Sports Award Winner, Abigail Flood ’24.
