Full STEAM Ahead: Technology & Innovation at Oak Knoll

From learning how to code to learning how to collaborate, create and make, Oak Knoll provides students with an incredible array of super-charged STEAM opportunities.

The I.D.E.A.S. Lab

Our commitment to science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) comes alive in our makerspace, the I.D.E.A.S. Lab. The lab (named for innovation, design, engineering, art, and science) is the ideal environment for students to:

  • Explore robotics, 3-D printing, electronic circuits, virtual reality, and augmented reality
  • Find new and exciting ways to improve critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Collaborate with peers at sit-to-stand desks, modular seating, wobble stools, a large butcher block brainstorming table, and student creation stations
  • Take part in project-based learning, using enhanced coding, Wonder Workshop K-12, Kodable and Scratch/Scratch Jr. for iPads, and CoSpaces for creating virtual environments

Classroom Technology

In addition to our makerspace, every classroom is equipped with the latest in interactive touch screens and boards, allowing all teachers to integrate technology seamlessly and creatively across the curriculum.

Our Lower School provides 1:1 technology for all students, making it easy to access the most up-to-date information on iPads (in PK-2) and Chromebooks (in grades 3-6). Lower School teachers use technology to transform the learning experience with rich digital resources.

Throughout Lower School, our STEAM focus encourages students to generate ideas, test them, fail, and try again – all while using technology and innovation to bring their ideas to life.

We invite your child to grow with Oak Knoll.
