Lower School Application Process

Our admissions process is all about finding the right fit. We accept qualified students who will thrive academically, socially and spiritually in our community. We hope your child becomes one of them.

Application Process

Our application deadlines have now passed. To inquire about enrollment, please email us at admissions@oakknoll.org.

The best way to discover Oak Knoll School is to visit our campus! Families are invited to schedule a visit to tour the campus and experience Oak Knoll School during the school day. Our goal is to get to know your child and family, painting an accurate picture of life at Oak Knoll along the way.

Parents and students are strongly encouraged to attend an Admissions Tour, or other scheduled admissions event during the school year. A campus tour is led by a member of the Admissions Office and is a great opportunity for families to see the campus “in action.” During COVID-19, please watch our virtual tour.

On-Campus Assessment
Once you’ve submitted the application form, please schedule your child’s testing.
Applicants are required to take the ERB Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) or Admissions Assessment for Beginner Learners AABL (dependent upon grade entry level).

  • AABL Exam (Applicants applying to grades K & 1st)
  • ISEE Primary Level (Applicants applying to grades 2nd, 3rd or 4th)

Off-Campus Assessment

Students applying for admission into grades 5 through 6 are required to complete the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). The Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) consists of verbal and quantitative ability tests, mathematics and reading comprehension achievement tests, and an essay that demonstrates a student’s writing skills.

  • ISEE Lower Level (Applicants applying to grades 5th and 6th)
    • Register for your off-campus assessment online at www.iseetest.org or call 800-446-0320 using the school member code 311430 or with your local Prometric testing center.

Classroom Visits

Under normal circumstances, a Classroom Visit Day is required for all students applying to grades 1 through 6 as part of the application process. All students are hosted in their current grade and paired with Oak Knoll student buddies in their current grade, who guide them to classes, extracurriculars and complimentary lunch.

Rising kindergarten applicants attend an Oak Knoll play group.

Attend a parent meeting
Meet with the Admissions Office to discuss your child’s application. When possible, your meeting will be scheduled during your child’s visit. Please plan on meeting with the Admissions Director on the day you have scheduled immediately after drop off or prior to pick up. The meeting will be no longer than 30 minutes.

Through your online application parent portal, you can send the teacher recommendation form to your child’s current teacher via email. All recommendations MUST be received by the application deadline.

Required recommendation forms

  • Pre-K: Pre-K Teacher Evaluation Form
  • K: One teacher recommendation form
  • Grade 1: One principal recommendation form and one teacher recommendation form
  • Grades 2-4: One principal recommendation form, one teacher recommendation form and one release of records form
  • Grades 5-6: One principal recommendation form, two teacher recommendation forms and one release of records form

Complete the release of records form found through your online application parent portal and submit it to your school office. Your school will email your child’s current academic year transcripts. Transcripts must be submitted by the admissions deadline through your application portal. Note: Only when applicable for pre-K applicants.
