Lower School Application Process

Thank you for your interest in Oak Knoll School. Our admission process is all about getting to know you and your child. Oak Knoll helps students realize their God-given purpose and through our vibrant academic and co-curricular programs teaches them how to use that purpose to make a positive impact on the world. We look forward to helping you and your family discover Oak Knoll, and the Admission Team is here to help you every step of the way!

Application Process

Save the date! Our annual Lower School Open House will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 9 a.m. This is a great opportunity to see our faculty and students in action and to learn about all that Oak Knoll has to offer. We also offer small group tours throughout the fall and winter. To select a convenient date and time to visit, please register here

Our virtual information sessions will give you an overview of Oak Knoll’s curriculum, traditions, extracurricular offerings, and more. Be sure to view our Admissions On-Demand page to see a selection of videos and recorded sessions that will allow you and your family to become acquainted with the OKS community from the comfort of your home.

The OKS online application process begins once you have submitted your Student Profile, which is a brief form, to provide us with some preliminary information about your family. The application fee is $75, payable online with the submission of your Student Profile. Once you’ve submitted this form, you will have full access to your application portal, which includes a checklist of the required application materials. We encourage you to submit the Student Profile as soon as possible so we have plenty of time to work with your family.

  • Student Profile due: December 1, 2022
  • Remaining application materials due: February 3, 2023

In addition to our own application, Oak Knoll accepts the Standard Application Online (SAO), which you can find here.

Applicants to Pre-K and Kindergarten: Please sign up for a Saturday playgroup via the application portal. This will be a chance for us to get to know your child in a classroom and for him/her to see Oak Knoll.

Applicants to Grade 1: Please register through the application portal for a date for your child to come for a brief developmental assessment with an admission officer and to spend some time in our kindergarten classroom.

Applicants to Grades 2-4: Please register through the admission portal for a date for your child to visit. During their visit, applicants will take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) and then spend some time in our Oak Knoll classrooms.

Applicants to Grades 5-6: Please register on your own to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) at any testing venue. Also, register through the application portal for a classroom visit day and interview with an admission officer.

Oak Knoll requires recommendations from the applicant’s current teacher(s) and Principal/Director or Guidance Counselor. You will email the forms to the teachers directly through the application portal. Please request recommendations after November 1 (so the teachers have some time to get to know your child.) All recommendations must be received by the application deadline.

In the application portal, you will find the electronic Release of Records Form. Please email the form directly to your child’s school through the application portal. Your school will be prompted to upload your academic records to our portal through your request email. We ask for academic grades from the previous two school years, and the first report card from the current year (as soon as it is available.) We do not accept mailed transcripts.
