A Passion for Music: Kasia Borowiec ’08

The inherit skill and love for performing arts was evident in Kasia Borowiec ’08 as early as when she performed a solo during the annual Choral Consortium approximately a decade ago in the seventh grade.

Borowiec, now a professional soprano, often returns to her alma mater as part of Upper School Creative Arts teacher Ruby Robertson-Knox’s guest artist series to try and impart that same passion on future generations of Oak Knoll women.

“It all started once I got to the Upper School and when I found Ruby’s program,” Borowiec said. “Ruby had just so many opportunities.”

During her time at Oak Knoll, Borowiec performed in a number of musicals, and was also a member of concert choir and the Choraliers – now known as the Chimes.

“It’s so exciting because I feel we’ve shared an experience,” she said of the guest artist series, as well as her teaching private voice on campus. “I also love working with my girls on Thursday afternoons because we speak the same language and we’re passionate and it’s just exciting to see the next generation.

After graduating from Oak Knoll, Borowiec received a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and a master’s in vocal performance from Manhattan School of Music.

Borowiec is currently performing with the Benenson Young Artist Program at Palm Beach Opera. She was also a member of the Apprentice Singer Program at Santa Fe Opera.

Her other career highlights include performances with the Dayton Opera, the Chautauqua Opera, the Russian Opera Workshop, the Manhattan School of Music and many more opera groups, choruses and theatre companies.
