Oak Knoll Receives Platinum Recognition for AP Scores

The College Board has named Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child to the 2023 Advanced Placement School Honor Roll. The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools annually based on the percentage of graduates pursuing college education, opportunities provided for students to earn college credit, and overall college readiness. The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Oak Knoll has achieved the highest level of recognition — platinum.

At Oak Knoll, 100 percent of our Upper School graduates attend college. On average, the Class of 2023 took 5 AP and 5 Honors courses throughout their high school career, with each student taking at least one AP exam last academic year.

Oak Knoll offers 18 separate AP courses, each culminating in a challenging exam; students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue — skills that prepare them for college and beyond. Each successful exam has the potential to either limit the tuition a family or student may need to pay during their college career or earn them higher placement.

Last year, eighteen members of the Class of 2023 were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program as AP Scholars, with two being named Commended Students for their performance on Advanced Placement tests, and 13 members of the Class of 2024 were recognized as AP Scholars and two Commended Students this fall.

“These awards showcase a commitment to continuous learning and the pursuit of excellence in one’s academic studies,” Upper School Division Head Kathryn McGroarty said during the AP Scholar presentation earlier this year. “Receiving these awards signifies a high level of academic achievement and dedication to challenging coursework and showcases a student’s commitment to a rigorous education path. These awards can open doors to exciting academic opportunities and scholarships.”

Congratulations to all Oak Knoll students, our faculty, and administration who not only constantly strive for academic excellence but also embody the Holy Child values. Here at Oak Knoll, our students live by faith, learn by doing, and lead by example.
