“It is the opportunity to understand other cultures, promoting peace and appreciation for others.”
The goal of the Oak Knoll Global Learning initiative is to expose students to the world, learn about other cultures and explore differences. Oak Knoll students have traveled across the globe to stay with families for two weeks and Oak Knoll families have welcomed students from other countries into their homes.
Oak Knoll currently has exchange programs with Jesuïtes Sarrià Sant Ignasi and Jesuïtes Lleida Col-legi Claver Raimat in Spain. Students have previously exchanged with Lycée Sacré Cœur in France. Jesuïtes Sarrià Sant Ignasi and Jesuïtes Lleida Col-legi Claver Raimat, both Jesuit schools, are located in Barcelona and Lérida, respectively, with the latter school being located in a former monastery among beautiful natural scenery. The location of the French school, Sacré Cœur, has historic significance within the AP French curriculum, as it is where Christians hid Jews during World War II.
Previous exchanges, performances and service opportunities included travel to:
- Czech Republic
- Dominican Republic
